What Doesn't Get Measured, Doesn't Get Managed | EU Environmental Report Program

Our vision is clear: to get the world back on a safe path, businesses need reliable environmental measurements they can trust and act upon - and they need them fast.

Why now

Despite global efforts, the climate crisis is accelerating. In 2024, Earth recorded the warmest year on record and, for the first time, a full calendar year averaged above the 1.5 °C threshold relative to 1850–1900. That is the Paris Agreement's warning line - not a target.

Copernicus Global Climate Highlights 2024

A health check of our planet confirms we're moving in the wrong direction: as of September 2025, scientists report that seven of nine planetary boundaries are now breached, with ocean acidification newly in the danger zone. When planetary boundaries are breached, the stability of Earth's systems can no longer be guaranteed, threatening both nature and human wellbeing.

What 1.5 °C actually means

"1.5 °C" is the global average increase over the 1850–1900 baseline (the IPCC's proxy for "pre-industrial"). The Paris Agreement commits countries to keep warming well below 2 °C and to pursue efforts to limit it to 1.5 °C.

Crossing 1.5 °C increases the risks of severe and often irreversible impacts.

Measurement is key

You can only manage what you can measure. For climate, that means building a robust measurement infrastructure across Scopes 1–3, and, at the product level, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA):

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions from your operations.
  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased energy.
  • Scope 3: All other value-chain emissions, upstream and downstream.

LCA complements corporate inventories by quantifying the full footprint of each product or service across its life cycle, exactly the level of resolution needed for smart design, procurement, and compliance decisions. GHG Protocol FAQ

The Continuous Cycle of Action

Climate change has no single finish line. The only workable loop is: measure → act → re-measure → verify continuously. At the planetary scale, we know where we stand (e.g., CO₂ ~425 ppm in 2025 vs. ~278 ppm pre-industrial). The gap between "now" and "safe" can only be closed if every organization can quantify, compare, and prove the impact of its choices, product by product, supplier by supplier - easily and at scale.

Redefining Environmental Assessment with the LCAi Platform 2.0

LCA has traditionally been slow, costly, and hard to scale. LCAi's vision is to make high-quality, audit-ready LCAs and Scope 1–3 insights as routine as a financial report:

  • Speed & scale: AI-agent workflows to cut cycle times from months to days without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Actionable data: product footprints you can actually use to guide purchasing, design, and market choices.
  • Compliance-ready: Built to align with leading reporting frameworks and the EU's evolving sustainability rulebook.

What it enables

  • Measure every significant product and operation: not once, but continuously.
  • Compare alternative materials, suppliers, and designs with quantified outcomes.
  • Prove progress to customers, regulators, and investors with evidence, not estimates.

This is our vision: a world where environmental performance is measured with the same discipline as financial performance, so leaders can act decisively and society can stay within planetary boundaries.
